Is Halloween A Christian Holiday? Do Goats Wear Costumes?
Happy Halloween! When I was a child, everyone dressed up for Halloween. No one seemed to question whether it was ok, as Christians, to do so. But in recent years, tit's become more controversial.
Did you know that Halloween actually means, the day before All Hallows, or All Saints, Day? It's the start of a 3 day celebration of the saints and those who have passed away. Wikipedia says the 3 days are part of 'Allhallowtide and are a time for honoring the saints and praying for the recently departed souls who have yet to reach Heaven.' Tanzanians don't have a tradition of dressing up in costumes for Halloween. Imagine their faces when a group of 'Mzngu' (westerners) brought costumes to dress up Food for His Children goats! Check out the fun!
