Organizations that help poverty: Addressing food insecurity and housing in rural African communities.

Fostering Real Relationships

Standing outside his mud and stick home in the Maasai Mara, Shamburi gently pulled out a tattered piece of paper—faded, soft, and sacred with time. He unfolded it slowly, reverently. Inside was a photo and a letter. The boy had written about his home near a lake in Indiana.

After nearly two decades, Shamburi still treasures that letter from his childhood partner.

Hearts Across Homes fosters genuine, Christ-centered relationships between your family or child and a family or child in rural Tanzania. This program goes far beyond traditional sponsorship—it invites you into a meaningful partnership where families share life, faith, prayers, challenges, and joys together. Through this connection, partners encourage one another, witness God at work, and form a bond rooted in mutual dignity, understanding, and hope.

By connecting with a real family, you can see the impact of your prayers and partnership as they walk toward restored relationships and lasting transformation. Families receive holistic support through the Food for His Children Model, including case management, discipleship, livestock and agriculture training, health insurance, and tools that strengthen their God-given gifts and goals.

Hearts Across Homes redefines giving by fostering authentic relationships across continents. Partners communicate through letters, video calls, and messages, sharing testimonies, life updates, and answered prayers that deepen their connection. They celebrate achievements, navigate challenges, and grow in their faith together. Families around the world gain a richer understanding of life and faith in Tanzania, while Tanzanian families receive encouragement and prayer support—building a community united by compassion, Christ’s love, and a shared commitment to lasting change.

Frequently Asked Questions About Hearts Across Homes

Families interested in Hearts Across Homes must be part of the Food for His Children program and indicate an interest in having a family or child partner. Our team prioritizes families who have been in the program for less than 2 years.

Hearts Across Homes is called a “partnership” because it emphasizes building genuine, personal and faith based relationships between supporters and real families in need. Unlike traditional child sponsorship, which often involves simply sending a check, our program desires partners to engage meaningfully and prayerfully with the families they support. In fact, we ask that you don’t choose a family if you prefer to just make a donation and don’t have time to make a commitment to building a relationship with the child or family you partner with since that can lead to disappointment.

Our family partnerships work by connecting families from around the globe with those in Tanzania in a meaningful, reciprocal relationship. Instead of focusing on financial support, these partnerships emphasize sharing challenges, experiences, and goals. Families can engage with one another, pray for one another, and celebrate with one another, all while gaining a deeper understanding of each other’s cultures and life circumstances.

YES! We’re happy to help you arrange a volunteer trip to Tanzania or just a trip so you can meet and interact with your family in person. Ask about this when you contact us.
